MoneyBall

Synopsis: Oakland A's GM Billy Beane is handicapped with the lowest salary constraint in baseball. If he ever wants to win the World Series, Billy must find a competitive advantage. Billy is about to turn baseball on its ear when he uses statistical data to analyze and place value on the players he picks for the team.

Design: Yeah you guessed it BLT Associates

This is a movie for people who love sport, statistics or Brad Pitt, unfortunately I fall between the cracks on all three counts. I do however like space in a layout an oh boy does this have space, so much space that Brad is left dwarfed by the enormity of his own name! the typeface is an old favourite Gotham Medium, the title of the film is given second billing to Brad Pitt's name but all in all a nice tight block of text is created leaving all that luxurious space for your eyes to roll around in.
Of couse it would never do to leave your main star pining in the corner of the poster and that is why they have created another vession which has Brad looking like he's about to order a hotdog, (he is only human after all) even these posters keep the tight text block. No other variants or character posters on this one so this is a short post, but all in all like the subject matter the poster doesn't grab me but it is nice for a movie poster to have the confidence to use space and not fill every square inch with logos, credits, quotes and you know what I mean. It feels clean and well executed.
